Who are we?

Our Community First Responders are volunteers, who give up their spare time to respond to 999 and NHS 111 calls, on behalf of East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EMAS) in Leicester and surrounding areas.

A Community First Responder is normally first on scene before an ambulance crew arrive. This means that we can provide treatment for minor injuries and conditions or begin effective life-saving interventions for cardiac arrests, major traumas or other life-threatening conditions.

Each volunteer is trained as a level 2 EMAS CFR, and can progress to level 3, which involves responding to wider range and complexity of jobs.

We understand that when you need us, it can be a distressing time, so we aim to support our patients, both mentally and physically. We ensure to provide comfort and support to the patients friends and family.

Community Engagement

A big part of our group is teaching our local community more about how they can help in an emergency situation.
